Samhain is a sacred time when we welcome the turning towards winter, the last of the harvest celebrations, and the half way mark between the Autumn Equinox and the Winter Solstice. It is also often considered to be the beginning of the Druid New Year. We honor our ancestors at this time when the veil between the worlds is at its thinnest. Come and join Druids of the Light in a very special Ancestor Rite in honor of Samhain, followed by a special blessing to carry us into the coming year. We will be meeting on Facebook Live at 4:30 pm on Saturday evening, November 1st, 2025. The ceremony is approximately 30 minutes long.
The Full Moon is on October 6th at 8:48 pm Pacific Daylight Time.
This Full Moon is known as the Harvest Moon as it is the first Full Moon after the Autumn Equinox. Because the Moon is in Aries, it’s time to take initiative and decisive action. It’s a time to prepare for winter, as well as spending time in deep reflection and self-care. Balanced with the Libra Sun brings in an awareness of relationships and connections.
This is a passionate and fiery libation that can lead to breakthroughs involving relationships, finding the balance between self and others, and to find true harmony through an awareness of alignment and refinement.
There are several aspects at work.

Autumn Equinox is a time of balance, a time when day and night are equal in length, and a time of turning inward as we contemplate the coming winter. It is also a time to express gratitude for all of the abundance and blessings that have come our way in the past year.
Hi, I am Linda Mae, and I am here today to talk to you about this New Moon period we are beginning on Sunday, Sept. 21st at 12:54 PM Arizona time (PDT).
This also represents the end of one lunar cycle and the beginning of another. Astrologically, this means that both the Sun and Moon are in the same sign, and on Sept. 21st they are both still in the sign of Virgo (although the Sun enters Libra 2 hrs later @ 2:41 pm.) This is also the second New Moon in Virgo this year. The new moon is usually a time of new beginnings, and as we mentioned during the last Virgo New Moon, this time emphasizes a level of groundedness, order, and clarity, as well as healthiness. It’s a great time to do some de-cluttering.
This New Moon in Virgo brings in new stories that will be in our lives for a long time – new jobs, new family ties, new alliances. This is partially due to the fact that it is also a Solar Eclipse, which serves as a powerful opportunity to make such new alliances. It’s a time to align our daily routines with our deepest values and shed outdated beliefs, and a renewed sense of clarity and freedom.
One of the most significant aspects of this New Moon is that on Sept. 19th, Venus enters also enters Virgo, and squares Uranus in Gemini a day later. This opens you to new ideas and a spirit of discovery.
There are many other aspects at work.

Also, be aware that our Autumn Equinox ceremony is on Facebook Live on the Druids of the Light page on September 20th at 5:00 pm PDT, the day BEFORE this New Moon, so of course we will also be including a New Moon working as part of the ceremony. Feel free to join us online or watch the replay, which will be available on Facebook for 30 days, and it will also be uploaded to YouTube before it is no longer on Facebook.
I am Linda Mae, and I am here today to talk to you about this Full Moon period we are beginning in the early morning on Sept 7th at 11:09 am (Pacific Daylights Savings time). So, it will be full on Sept 7th at 2:09 pm EDT.
This is known as the Corn Moon and sometimes the Blood Corn Moon because this full moon will be seen as a haunting red color. The Corn Moon is symbolic of the time to gather the final harvests of summer. It is a gentle, grounding full moon that encourages slowing down, expressing gratitude, and reconnect with your body and your own deeper truth. Traditionally named by Native American tribes, it’s a symbol of abundance and the culmination of hard work and it invites us to celebrate the fruits of our labor. This is also known as the Harvest Moon, which links it to the Autumn Equinox, a time of extra light for farmers to tend to their crops in the evening. It is also known as the Barley Moon and Wine moon, reflecting the ripening of these various crops.
We have a Full Moon when the sun and moon are considered in opposition. Astrologically, this means that both the Sun and Moon are in opposing signs, and at the time of this Full Moon, the Sun is in Virgo & the Moon is in Pisces, exactly opposed the Sun on Sept 7th at 11:09 am PDT. It’s a time to focus on the essentials. Pay special attention to the thought patters you allow to take hold, especially if they trigger doubts ad fears Consciously avoid stress or arguments and treat yourself to long moments of silence instead. The Pisces energy brings in more intuitive knowings and sensitivity, so it truly is a good time to clear & release that which no longer serves you. It’s a time to connect spiritually, in such ways as meditation, journaling, and soul searching. Embrace your creativity and focus on inner healing.

This New Moon in Virgo signifies a tie of self-improvement and practical action. It encourages introspection and aligning with your highest purpose. This New Moon emphasizes efficiency, well-being, meaningful rituals, and an urge to devote your energy to what truly matters. It’s a period for releasing perfectionism and embracing improvements in your life through devotion. You may find yourself focusing on improving your routines and focusing on productivity. It’s a time to cultivate a more fulfilling life, integrating self-improvement, practical action and inner work as you let go of that which no longer serves and make way for the new.

This is known as the Sturgeon Moon because this is the time of year when sturgeon were most readily caught during August. Sturgeon are prehistoric fish, and symbolize longevity, survival, and ancestral knowledge. This is the time to reap the rewards of your hard work, release any lingering emotional weight, strengthen your spiritual foundation, and reconnect with your ancestors and guides on the other side. Other names are the Corn Moon, the Barley Moon, the Fruit Moon, and the Lightning Moon.

Astrologically, this means that both the Sun and Moon are in opposing signs, and at the time of this Full Moon, the Sun is in Leo, & the Moon is in Aquarius, exactly opposed the Sun on Aug. 9th at 12:55 am PDT. This Full Moon is all about daring to do what you aspire to do, as you align personal ideals and collective concerns. The developments will prove to be relevant in the future. It’s also a time of healing and closure. This is a very cleansing Full Moon and will calibrate us more for the future.
Aspect-wise, there are some major considerations.
