Autumn Equinox – celebrating the Harvest

Autumn Equinox is a time of balance, a time when day and night are equal in length, and a time of turning inward as we contemplate the coming winter. It is also a time to express gratitude for all of the abundance and blessings that have come our way in the past year. We will be meeting to celebrate this wonderful time of harvest, and to honor Nuada and Airmed, the god and goddess of healing and prosperity. The ceremony is approximately 30 minutes long.

Location: Peace Park Lawn at Unity of Sedona
Admission: Suggested donation $10, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds

Lughnasadh ceremony

We had a lovely Lughnasadh ceremony last Saturday, August 3rd. It was right in the middle of the monsoon season, so we held the ceremony indoors once again, and only had a small group of attendees. Lughnasadh is such a lovely time to affirm our blessings and to give thanks for the coming harvest season. Everyone felt the ceremony was quite meaningful.

Lughnasadh is almost here!

Traditionally, Lughnasadh is celebrated on our about August 1st. This year, Druids of the Light is offering our ceremony which celebrates the first harvest on August 3rd at 6:00pm. Lughnasadh is the time of the year when summer starts turning towards autumn. It is also the time of the first harvest, and is the first of three harvest ceremonies. In Arizona, Lughnasadh is a time to be thankful for the rains and for the bounty of the land. It is a time to gather with friends and kin in merriment. The ceremony is approximately 45 minutes long, and there will be a time of socializing after the ritual. Our ceremony will be at Unity of Sedona, in Unity’s Peace Park (lawn area), but will move to the Chapel in case of rain.

Classes

We have decided to cancel classes for the summer, since people are traveling and other activities are happening. However, we will probably get together to do a workshop or two, and of course, we have our Lughnasadh Ritual coming up the first weekend in August. Stay posted for more information about that.

Summer Solstice

We had a lovely Summer Solstice ritual with a great number of people attending. I was surprised because it unexpectedly started raining in the afternoon. We ended up having the ceremony in the Chapel at Unity, which worked out quite well. Everyone was moved by the ceremony and we had a wonderful time socializing after with snacks that we shared.

Our 2019 trip to the British Isles

We are finalizing our plans to visit the British Isles. We will be leaving Phoenix on October 7th, and returning on the evening of October 18th. It’s a whirlwind trip but we will have a chance to visit many sites.

It’s going to be an ambitious and fun trip…. Stonehenge, Tintagel Castle, Merlin’s Cave, Glastonbury, Avebury, Newgrange, Hill of Tara, Bridghe’s Well in Kildare, CnocAine, Cliffs of Moher, Edinburgh Castle, Rosslyn Chapel, train back to London. We are all so excited!

If you would like to join us, there is still time. Please contact Linda Mae by using the Contact Us tab if you are interested in knowing more.

The plan is that this, or some portions thereof, will be tours that we will be doing on a regular basis.

Amazon Smile

We continue to develop the business side of our organization. Recently Druids of the Light has been approved as an official non-profit for Amazon Smile. What this means is that you can choose Druids of the Light as the organization that you would like to support with a portion of your sales. Just click on the link below.

Step by Step

Step by step, we are getting our ducks in a row. The site is coming along, and our ongoing classes continue to follow our Initiate’s study program. We now have a Facebook page, and that’s where people can find out about our events, both ongoing and otherwise.

We have some wonderful things coming up, including a possible Summer Solstice Retreat Campout. Stay tuned as we develop this.

We are also planning a trip to the British Isles to visit some of the sacred sites in England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. This will not be a tour, but more of a casual trip, meant to see the country and get the lay of the land. In the future, we may be developing regular tours.

We are also currently working on having an Amazon Smile account so that portions of people’s purchases can help us to raise some funds for our future endeavors.

We are embarking on an exciting adventure! And there is more news to come!

New Logo

As we grow this organization, it is really fun to reach certain goals. The first one was, of course, when I heard we are an official spiritual non-profit druid organization back in November. The second one happened just this past week, wherein I now have a logo for Druids of the Light. This is really exciting – makes it all feel so much more official! Even more so than the website does.

So, here it is in all of its glory!
