August Moon Phase

I am here today to talk to you about this moon phase, beginning with the New Moon on Wednesday, August 12th at 10:37 AM PDT, and then the Full Moon on Thursday, August 27th at 9:18 PM PDT.

This also represents the end of one lunar cycle & the beginning of another. Astrologically, this means that both the Sun & Moon are in the same sign. On August 12th, they are both in the sign of Leo. The New Moon is usually a time of new beginnings, and this particular New Moon encourages you to believe in yourself and follow your heart. But sometimes, a desire to impress others is prominent. If you fear criticism, remember to use any feedback for your own self-improvement.

This New Moon also encourages you release strong and persistent attachments. By acting clearly and decisively, you can change your situations for the better. Because this is a solar eclipse, the effects may not show up right away. Long term changes are in the works!

Important aspects that take place in August and take us into this moon cycle, include the aspects between Venus, Saturn and the Sun, on the 6th-7th which may bring in impulses with positive responses. Then we have the Lion’s Gate portal on the 8th which brings significant initiations and unexpected turning points in your life. It’s a good time to start new projects.

And this time brings us to the New Moon in the 12th, which emphasizes some of this, as well as encouraging you to make the best of opportunities that come your way, and to be aware of the possibilities of good relationships, but don’t get too obsessed on them.

Then, on Aug. 21st, Venus and Saturn are opposed, which helps with clarifying relationships.

This moves us into the Full Sturgeon Moon on August 27th.

The Full Moon is known as the Sturgeon Moon, due to the ease which which the sturgeon could be caught, and they were an important food source for the folk. It also has to do with abundance and patience. It may also be known as the Green Corn Moon, The Grain Moon, and other similar names about what’s happening in Nature at this time of year.

We have a Full Moon when the astrological signs are in opposition. At this time, the Sun is in Leo and the Moon is in Aquarius. This makes us a bit more sensitive and perceptive of our surroundings. You may feel a sense of insecurity and passivity, but as you engage in creative and/or spiritual endeavors, you will benefit from where your imagination can go.

This is also a Lunar Eclipse which sets the stage for a big purge and emotional release, which emphasis the insecurities, but you CAN use this to your advantage.

After the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, we wrap up August with a conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn on Aug 31st, which merges confidence with commitment and expansion with structure, leading us to long-lasting and substantial achievements.

I’ll be back again before the New Moon on Sept 10th to tell you more.

Blessings of this August Moon season to you!
